This “calling” or career has been developing over the course of my life, first starting with a rebellious little girl who had eczema and later diagnosed with juvenile epilepsy. This little girl refused both the medicine offered by the neurologist or the fact that either diagnoses were UNCURABLE as the doctors stated. I didn’t know why then but I had an intuition our bodies are made to heal by design. My road to healing and how I navigated it under medical supervision has many layers, but one common thread in many crucial times was an innate wisdom. A pivotal time in my history was at the age of 19, I went to see my neurologist for my bi-annual check-up and being off of medication (not having my nervous system numbed) I was able to connect triggers to my seizures and discovered my hormone levels were linked to these unkind events. The neurologist laughed at me and then said it was non-sense, I went back 6 months later and all over his office were materials stating NEW RESEARCH linking hormones to women’s seizures. I told you so and walked out! I am proud to say that I have been able to balance my hormones and maintain a seizure free life. The horrible, embarrassing eczema did heal for good after I drastically changed my diet at age 21 and it has never returned. I can tell you healing your gut beats putting on steroid cream for the rest of your life.
Going through all of this at a young age gave me a firsthand experience not only to the healing capacity of our bodies but an appreciation for the intelligent design of the human body. Later I ended up studying Exercise Science at Whitworth University and being a Personal Trainer for over 18 Years. I absolutely love being a trainer, helping people gain all of the benefits of an active lifestyle. But I saw a deeper need of what true health was that wasn’t being addressed nor taught to individuals who were desperate for solutions to change. When my own health took a downhill dive when I was at my personal peak physical condition and what I also equated to healthy it hit me hard, and I wanted answers! I looked to doctors, functional doctors, and more doctors, no answers, so I went into research mode and advocated for myself AGAIN. When I started to find practitioners who were giving me solutions that actually delivered results I noticed the same credential coming up on their resume, Holistic Nutritional Therapist. I decided to go back to school on the conviction that the WORLD needed more practitioner’s involved in real “health” care that is approached holistically to health and wellness, on an individual, community and world level. As we are all one!
It has been a long journey and I would happily share the whole version if you would like but know, I deeply believe in God the creator, His desires for our life for us and life abundantly, If we acknowledge His design and care for His beautiful creation as is intended it generally works in an optimal state.
